Philippines Urgent Prayer Need:

Please pray for those in the Philippines. Here is an update from one of our missionaries. "Manila is again in the middle of a huge flood. As much as half the city is under water. 1,000,000 people may have flooded homes. The volume of water is higher than Super-typhoon Ondoy in 2009. We have had three typhoons/tropical depressions in succession and three weeks of continuous rain. Most banks, government offices, and schools have been closed for days. There have been about 100 people killed. We hope the waters have peaked now but it continues to rain. At least two more days of rain are expected as the cyclone heads north. Many of our church members' homes are under water again."

If you or your church would like to donate you can do so by visiting here: Donate Online

Or you can send a check or money order to IDES (Disaster)
PO BOX 60
Kempton, IN 46049-0060

We also got word from two more missionaries that they are needing additional funding to take care of the people's needs. They have turned to IDES for help. In fact one said, "The Philippines had the greatest number of natural disasters of any country in the world last year." Please keep praying for the people and missionaries in the Philippines an that the rains will stop.

Thank you to Northside Christian Church in New Albany, IN
http://www.mynorthside.com/
and other volunteers that helped us this past week!  Because of you we were able to put up nine more storage sheds for tornado victims in Marysville.  Keep up the great work!

So far in Southern Indiana we have built 28 storage sheds for people, fixed three roofs, worked on two siding projects, and have cleaned up numerous properties after the tornado.  We have also gathered and distributed supplies to Henryville, Marysville, Borden, Pekin, and Nabb.

We want to thank all of the volunteers that have come so far to help.  On average we have had between 150 - 400 volunteers each week come through our volunteer center in Sellersburg, IN.

You can volunteer for Southern, IN or other IDES disaster sites on our website at:

IDES Storage Sheds Are Starting To Go Up In Towns Devastated By Tornadoes

IDES has started building storage sheds in many of the communities devastated by tornadoes. Storage sheds are a good option as people are waiting for insurance. Many of the homes need to be demolished and the stuff inside that they can save needs to be stored. Many of the people cannot afford to rent a storage unit so these sheds can be a much needed next step.

Deadly Storms Hit The Mid-West

Please pray for those who were in the middle of deadly tornadoes that hit Illinois, Missouri, and Tennessee.  This storm caused at least ten deaths and hundreds of injuries.  Branson Missouri has reported damage reaching at least 10 million dollars.  IDES teams are still rebuilding Joplin Missouri after their devastating tornado and are ready to help if a need arises.  Pray for those people today that are trying to put the pieces back together and for the volunteers who are ready to help.

We will keep people updated as reports come in but if you know of a community or church that has a need please let us know by emailing us at ides@ides.org

For I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.

For I was thirsty.. With your help IDES was able to help in 34 projects including drilling wells so that people would have safe drinking water.

For I was hungry... Because of your support in 2011 IDES was able to help with 38 different hunger relief projects that not only brought food to the hungry but also opened up doors for the gospel.

We were able to help in 90 disaster projects including projects in Japan, Haiti, and projects in the United States.

In 2011 we provided medical assistance in over 50 projects and helped with 15 different Evangelism projects.

Thanks to your support we were able to help a lot of people in 2011 and look forward to partnering with you in 2012.

"Thank you for what you and your wife are doing to help my people."

IDES feeds the hungry all over the world including the Philippines. Here is a quote from one of our missionary partners, Darryl Krause. "The other day I was taking some six liters of hydration drink to a poor family accross the road from us with lots of children. They also have lots of children hanging around their small rice farm playing in the dirt and grass.. On my way back a complete stranger stopped my and said to me in English " Thank you for what you and your wife are doing to help my people." "Many foriegners just don't seem to be aware of the poverty these children suffer." I felt very encouraged and am sure IDES does as well when nationals comment unexptedly like this man did."  Today pray for those around the world who will go to bed hungry this evening.
